<a title="Ashley "Hollister" Williams" href="../players/player.asp?uninumber=0823667">Ashley "Hollister" Williams - Hey all, We are already in Term 3 and PokerSoc will continue as usual. Today we are in the normal room, R0.03/04, at the normal time of 2.30pm. *** ELECTIONS!! *** It is time to apply for and vote in a new exec! You can find our current execs with their positions here ( http://www.warwickpoker.com/ exec/ ). As an exec you will be responsible for: - Running the society on a weekly basis - Organising the freshers freeroll & freshers fair - Helping represent Warwick as a university, both in and out of poker, and student poker as a whole in the UK - Organising the easter trip - Organising the WaSOP - Doing socials! If you are on the fence about doing this, I encourage you to do so. Historically all the execs have always loved their jobs and form a big friendship group spanning across all years & alumni. All the positions apart from president require very little work, your job is mostly just showing up every week! And feel free to speak to any of us about what we do. Additional benefits include: - Looking good on the CV (teamwork, leadership are essential qualities for most jobs) - Appears on your final degree transcript - Getting your say in the running of the society - Keeping the society going! - It's fun! **************************** So what are the positions: President - Responsible for the overall running of the society. This position involves arranging and running weekly tournaments, organising the WaSOP and a trip abroad. Vice President - Assisting the President in the organisation of the society and taking over duties in his/her absense. Treasurer - In charge of income and expenditure of the society's finance. The only exec member, other than the President, that may approve the spending of the society's money. Secretary - Involved with the organisation of the society and also historically responsible for organising hoodies for the society. Social-Secretary - Responsible for organising regular social events for the society, which is especially important in term 1 to integrate new members. May also be involved with organising the trip abroad. Events - Involved in the structure of weekly tournaments and proposing a weekly event list for the rest of the exec to negotiate. Also involved in the organisation of the WaSOP. Communications - Responsible for the society's email account; including sending weekly emails to the members of the society. Also involved with promotion of the WaSOP and the trip abroad. General Exec x2 - Expected to help the day to day running of the society, and may be delegated any responsibilities described above. **************************** How to apply: 1. Choose a primary and secondary choice for the position you want. You can choose any two, but I would advise choosing both 1 main role (Pres, Vice, Treas) and 1 other role. 2. Write a short manifesto that will be put up on Wed Week 2. This can be very short and bullet points if you want. Just introduce yourself, the positions you are applying for and any ideas you have for improving/maintaining the society next year. 3. Submit this to ashley.williams@warwick.ac.uk 4. The preliminary dealine for applications is Sunday Week 2 and I will post the manifestos whenever I get them. You may submit and application later but I would prefer you hit the deadline :) The vote will happen on Wednesday Week 3. We will get you to introduce yourself and say a quick sentence or two summarising your manifesto, and then everyone who attends gets to vote (including you)! (IF you can't be there week 3 you can still apply, we will read out your manifesto for you :)) 5. We get a new exec! But don't worry, your responsibilities won't start till next year!

Rupert - [nb. like all good reporting sites, this report will be littered with minor inaccuracies] Warwick Poker was on the road once again with 10 of us making the cheeky little trip over to Birmingham for the UK Student Poker Championships. Aberyswyth (or however your spell that place in Wales) were said to have 40 entrants by some people, and although we only managed 10 out of the 300 we still had 4 very much alive in the final 20. Aaron Madeley of Warwick was the overnight chip leader with just a shy over 200k but it didn't take long for Sam Weir also of Warwick to substantially overtake him. At one point during the final table he had over 800k. Unfortunately it wasn't to be and with 5 students left, Sweir raised with A3o and found a caller. The flop was AT3 two tone and Sweir made a standard continuation bet. The other player declares "call all in" at which point the dealer makes a resounding ruling of just a call. The 3rd spade fell on the turn and the other guy snap shoves (lol). Sweir tanks before folding and the other guy claims he had 67ss. Standard. Then he 3 bet shoves AJo pre vs Rachel Dale who tanks forever before calling with AK which holds up. So GG Warwick, we certainly impressed in yet another live tournament. 1 Greg Yates 1180 + WSOP Main Event Package 2 Rachel Dale 1180 3 Daniel Atkinson 955 4 Anthony Mcshane 785 5 Sam Weir 635 6 Aron Springfield 515 7 Petter Hildel 415 8 Adam Edgerley 325 9 Andrew Macfarlane 260 10 Aaron Madeley 205 11 Kev Amlani 165 12 Adam Armitage 165 13 Jeremy Levy 165 14 Alexander Marsden 130 15 Ben Williamson 130 16 Jonathon Garrett 130 17 JohannesStroble 105 18 H James 105 19 Aneurin Venables 105 20 Jennifer Doxey 105 21 John Mcdonald 85 22 Joe Neal 85 23 Mark Rayson 85 24 Gary Kelson 85 25 Mark Flatman 85 26 Robert Cocks 85 27 Ryan Hurst 85 28 Michael Swann 85 29 James Mee 85 30 Christopher Hendleson 85
